A Pearl Designed For A King

I began to carve pearls over 10 years ago. It was an act creativity, a conscious decision to take one of nature’s most beautiful gems and carve it, touching each with the hand of the artist.

It was a revolutionary act. Not everyone was happy with what I did—especially those people who liked things done the way they’ve always been done. I treat each pearl like a canvas or a piece of clay and set out to create something bold, something beautiful, something unique. I believe I have accomplished this with our new “King Pearl” Collection.

Inside of every one of us is the desire to be free to act, to be free to think, love and express ourselves. For me, the act of carving a pearl is about more than just creating a beautiful piece of jewelry. It is about unleashing the creative spirit and, in doing so, creating a symbol of originality and individualism.

Galatea King Pearls are made for those of us who are not afraid, as Joseph Campbell once wrote, “to stand before the forest and enter the darkest place.”

If a Diamond Ring Could Speak, What Would It Say?

Traditional lockets can hold a loved one's picture. But Momento jewelry can hold their voice. Though it looks like a traditional piece of pearl, gemstone or diamond jewelry, every pendant, earring or ring from the Momento Collection is embedded with an NFC (near field communication) chip that remains unseen to the naked eye. Using our Galatea app, a voice message can be recorded and played back whenever Momento Gem, Pearl or Diamond touches the enabled NFC mobile phone or other NFC devices. Images, texts and web links can also be uploaded and saved for posterity.

Parle Lotus Garnet

Unearthed in the Mahenge Region of North Tanzania, Lotus Garnet was only recently discovered in late 2015. Found in alluvial mines, the amount of rough is unknown and each production is small and has a variation in color with every pocket produced.

The unique pinkish orange to orangey pink color of Lotus Garnet makes it an exceptional substitute to Padparascha Sapphire, Morganite and Imperial Topaz.

It is best viewed in sunlight and it has a slight red fluorescence which can give the appearance of color change.
