MIA has traveled around the world collecting world-class precious gems, from Colombian emeralds to Tahitian pearls. She has studied metalsmithing from master goldsmiths. With a doctorate in aesthetics from the University of Chicago, MIA is regularly featured in top media publications such as InStore Magazine, The Retail Jeweler, Rapaport Report, Jewelers Circular Keystone, Southern Jewelry News, Mid America Jewelry News, Adornment and Texas Jewelers. Formerly a Philosophy Professor, Mia loves to speak and write about all aspects of jewelry. A columnist for Southern Jewelry News, she also gives seminars at industry conferences such as the American Gem Society Conclave. Her studio and offices are in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in northwestern North Carolina. She derives inspiration from the abundant natural beauty of the region.
